Rhys Thomas tweets Pern Return

The BBC has yet to announce another series, but writing on his Twitter account this morning, Rhys Thomas announced "Brian Pern is back! Watch this space." He added: "New Thotch album. New documentary on BBC Four coming soon."

Further details are expected to be revealed in due course. Paul Whitehouse and Nigel Havers, who play Brian's former bandmates Pat Quid and Tony Pebblé, are expected to return for the new series, as is Michael Kitchen as Brian's no-nonsense manager John Farrow.

The recommission is not a big surprise, as Brian Pern has proved to be one of BBC Four's most popular formats. In December, Radio Times included the show in its run down of the 40 best TV series of 2016.

Can't wait! Love John Farrow. Seems Pern is the only way we can get to see the Man.

Let's hope they're joining the #fakenews trend and this report will be proven false!

I hope so, but somehow think not. Hope you are right, Lesley. Could be a good reason for John Farrow spinoff

Farrow probably advised Pern to play dead as a career move!
Sales will be massive!

Can't say that I'm surprised. Rhys Thomas had done pretty well all that he could with the Pern character; I can't see anywhere he could have taken him in a further series that wouldn't have been simply more of the same.

Sorry to hear about Pern's untimely demise and wonder if, much like soap operas and political careers, we could see a return to life.

BTW, I have been very aware of Segways since I first saw them almost 15 years ago. Guess Pern's figured the Segways didn't get near the love of the hoverboards.
Just looked over the chapter on "Horse Racing and Illegal Rambling."

I haven't got the requisite capacity for deceit.

Rhys Thomas tweeted a teaser from the upcoming show, it is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5xrXjs ... e=youtu.be

Gifs are here: http://britishdetectives.tumblr.com/pos ... al-concert

Also, last week Thomas mentioned in a radio interview that while they recovered the Segway, Brian's body was never found. I have hopes for more Pern--especially more John Farrow.

I like him tanned and sweary!

Earlier, he had posted an interview he did with Shaun(?). Talks about John Farrow about 2:19. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08hzqlp

Kind of a surreal interview considering Brian Pern is not real.

Thanks for the gifs, dcff. Our boy looks good, still sporting his brown suede loafers, and his little phone.

Thanks for these links! Our boy is looking very good - from the brief glimpse he seems to have lost a bit of weight, and has a great tan, whether real or applied.
Did you notice him in the background behind the drum set as one of the band mates was interviewed?
The radio interview was pretty funny, with RT wriggling around the truth that Farrow and Thotch are determined to cash in on Brian's death while they can!

They've certainly left lots of room for a miraculous resurrection of Pern some time in the future! "The body was never found..."
