AH needs a break, is all.

Yes, I believe this as well. It could be after Sam has her baby, they could want him to be the godfather, and then he gets unwittingly enmeshed in something or other.

AH says there's no more stories to tell, let's tell him all of OUR ideas...it would be MORE than enough for another series (or two...) :foyle5:

We collectively have enough ideas for a Foyle's War epic! :foyle1:

Isn't that the truth! I personally have ideas for at least two series on my own, plus all of yours out there.

We must get at least a reunion special in the works...then that could spin off into a new direction for Mr. Foyle... :foyle4:

You can't walk away from us as easy as you walked away from Dr. Addis, Foyle...we just won't let you go!! :foyle5:

I KNEW Sam was going to ask Foyle to be the godfather!! Loved his quiet, one word answer, "Honored". :foyle5:

Just looked over the chapter on "Horse Racing and Illegal Rambling."

As a former newspaper reporter, I can assure you not to believe everything you read. ITV might be just testing the waters.

Thanks for this, Elinor! With your experience, that gives room for hope. That time in history was filled with 'stories that need to be told' as AH mentioned. And he is just the person to write them.

It appears that Foyle's War is gaining more followers with each season, and while we want FW to go out on a high, the popularity of the show and it's characters continuing like this should be a sign to ITV that now is not the time to give it up.

Has anyone seen the viewing numbers for the three episodes? What was the % audience share?

I read a comment on the Telegraph review (IIRC) that Elise got ten million viewers, but that was only anecdotal. Previous series have had six to seven million viewers.

BARB figures for week ending 17th Jan don't appear to be up yet. The figure for FW9-1 shown on 4th Jan was 5.37 mil, the figure for FW9-2 shown on 11th Jan was 5.08 mil. To see how it rated alongside the other most popular 30 shows on each main channel, see ... BARB viewing figures w/e 11 Jan 2015 - choose which week at top of page.

Has it crossed anyone else's mind that perhaps MK did not want to do any more FW and that he thought he had gone as far as he could with the character ?
Perhaps AH and HW were happy to take the flack because they had other projects in the pipeline and know MK would not like the publicity. It would be nice to hear MK thoughts about FW and his character .

I had pondered that question too, Janewilts. Yet another reason for wishing he was more open to interviews.
But, what does the brain matter....compared to the heart?

Zero chance of that ever happening... :keepmum:

MK could go farther with the development/extension of the CF character, but has chosen not to. That may not by any means conclude that he has reached the limit of what his character can do, intrigues or situations that he could become involved with, should he wish to explore other story lines of that era.

And when he wants to break loose, he can always do something like Pern!!
