SS-GB not going over well?

This new series about Britain under Nazi rule has some issues apparently. The twitter comments under #SS-GB are amusing, from plain boring to incomprehensible plot to sound problems. And there's this article:

Hah! Newsreaders speak the dialogue so you can make out what the characters are saying!

Quite apart from the mumbling, the series itself has been lacklustre up to now. One chap on Twitter put his finger on the problem:
