Shakespearean actor Alan Howard, who portrayed Stephen Beck in War Games, has died.

What a shame! Too young, with a brilliant career that should have continued.
Nephew of Leslie Howard, great-nephew of Fay Compton.

I can only find information that says he died of pneumonia, but what was the 'dibilitating illness' that caused mobility problems?

So sorry to hear it. What a legacy he had in family and left in performance!

The scenes between Foyle and Beck in "War Games" are quite poignant. Glad that's part of his legacy, too.

This is indeed sad news - how lucky we are that great actors live on in film and digital form.
