I saw a production of the musical version of Spring Awakening last weekend. Hard to imagine anyone turning this grim, tragic tale into a musical, even harder to believe that the original play was written in 1891. The production was excellent with some glorious songs. Watching the young man playing Moritz Stiefel, I appreciated what a superb actor MK must have been right from the start. It's a very difficult role, embodying both comedy and tragedy. If anyone is interested in seeing the musical version, there is a video of the Broadway production, starring Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff, at . The quality of the sound and video is poor but it gives you an idea.
But, what does the brain matter....compared to the heart?
